March Break 2023: Fun and Adventure with Your Friends at EGPL

Are you stressed out about school or work? Do you need to find a way to get out of the house? Have no fear, March Break will soon be here!

We are busily working behind the scenes to get ready for all the March break programs that we have planned for you. To get you even more excited, here is a preview of all the programs that will be happening at the library from March 11th to the 18th. Note: Programs are listed in alphabetical order.

Afternoon Movies

Tuesday March 14th at 1PM at HL.

Thursday March 16th at 1PM in MA.

Relax and enjoy a family friendly movie at the library with popcorn! Movie titles to be announced on social media. Drop in.

Applefun puppet Show

Wednesday, March 15 at 10:30 AM at HL.

Saturday March 18 at 10:30 AM at MA.

Join us for 2 different puppet shows with Mike from Applefun Puppetry! Mount Albert – Forest Trek: Boldly go where few puppets have gone before! The forest is a peaceful place… until some silly space explorers arrive.

Holland Landing – Robin Hood: Oh no! The Sheriff has stolen the money! The best way to get it back? A dancing contest of course!

Cardboard box adventure

Tuesday, March 14 at 4:30 PM at HL.

Wednesday, March 15 at 1 PM at MA.

Join us to create fantastical forts out of cardboard boxes; the box is in the eye of the beholder, and we are so excited to see what you’ll create!

I play it safe with dogs

Tuesday, March 14 at 2 PM at MA.

Meet the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog team and learn the correct way to greet a dog and what to do if confronted by a stray dog. The presentation is aimed at younger children but families are welcome. Say hello and interact with the therapy dog afterwards!

I-Spy Scavenger hunt

Friday March 11 at 1 PM in HL.

Saturday, March 18 at 1 PM in MA.

Join us to search the library for hidden objects, just like a real-life I-Spy book! Children will participate in an alphabetical scavenger hunt and use the objects to create a silly or strange adventure story.

Jungle walk adventure

Take a walk on the wild side. Meet interesting creatures and learn about their lives and habitat through songs, books, and crafts.

March Break Tween Makers

Tuesday, March 14 at 3PM at MA.

Wednesday March 15 at 4PM at HL.

Adventure into a magical world and create your own mini 3D printed fantasy creature. From dragons to unicorns and anything in between, create whatever you can imagine! 3D prints will be available for pickup one week after the program.

Messy Moon Science

Saturday, March 11 at 11 AM at MA.

Wednesday, March 15 at 1 PM at HL.

Step into space to explore everything Moon related! Play with Moon Dough, test the weight of planets, stars, and UFOs, and do a Fizzy Moon Rock experiment to see what lies at the centre of a moon!

Minecraft coding

Take a trip under the sea or through the forest in this choose your own adventure Minecraft themed coding program.

Tackle coding challenges and then use your new skills to build your own Minecraft world.

Lego Club

Saturday, March 11 at 1 PM.

Outdoor Arts Circle

Saturday, March 11 at 1 PM.

The Pet Shop: how to budget for kids

An introduction to teaching your kids about how we need money to satisfy our daily wants and needs. If you have a child, you’ve probably been asked – “Can we get a puppy or kitten?” We’ll answer this by talking about the responsibilities that come with owning a pet, and most importantly – the costs of many of the things we need to have to make our home a happy place for a new pet! VR hangout
