What’s On

Since 1993, the East Gwillimbury Public Library has encouraged young writers to imagine and create. Once again, students in Grades 3-8 are invited to submit their work for inclusion in the 2022 Write On! Anthology.

This year’s theme is Out of This World!

Click here for the fillable PDF entry form and guidelines.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday, June 24, 2022.

Writing Prompts

Need some extra inspiration for your story? Why not use some of our writing prompts!

  1. Here we go, I thought to myself, just step through this portal… who knows where I’ll end up?
  2. When I closed my eyes, I started to dream, to daydream, and I ended up in my own world that looked like…
  3. I walked down the grassy path, along the river edge and through the trees. Eventually I came across the smallest door I have ever seen.
  4. It was so unreal, one of those things you never would have expected. One night you look up, and the stars are… not the same, but different, somehow?
  5. Both suns had risen in the sky, turning it a vibrant purple; there was no sign of acid rain, so today was going to be a good day.
  6. Lights flashed on the space station, and information was downloaded onto a computer. Who knew such a normal activity would lead to the discovery of intelligent life?
  7. Who knew that I would end up landing in a strange, unfamiliar world?
