A provincewide Stay-at-Home Order is in effect as of January 14, 2021. The Library is open for Curbside Pickup Only.

Curbside Pickup is a way for the Library to lend material to the public in a safe way during a public health emergency like the Covid-19 pandemic. Customers can place holds using our online catalogue or by phone. Once you have been notified that your hold is ready drop by during our posted open hours to collect your pickup within a week’s time.

Do I need a car for Curbside Pickup?

No. Curbside Pickup simply means you pick up your books at a table outside the Library.

When can I pick up my items?

Curbside Pickup will be available during the library’s open hours:

Wednesday10am to 3pm
Thursday3pm to 8pm
Friday10am to 3pm
Saturday10am to 3pm
Sunday - MondayClosed

How can I browse books?

There are several other ways you can browse our collection.

1. Through the online catalogue 
2. Through the East Gwillimbury Public Library App, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
3. Request materials on demand in person at the front desk
4. By using our Curbside Pickup Form

How do I place my holds?

You can place items on hold online through the Library’s catalogue, the East Gwillimbury Library app, by calling your local branch or by email at [email protected] You you will require an active library card to place a hold.

Can you help me find something interesting?

Yes! Library staff are happy to help you find something. You can send a request form for Library Staff to find a selection of items for you to pick up, you can call or email your local branch.

How can I return my items without entering the branch?

The Library book drops in front of both branches are now open and are checked daily. All library materials are quarantined for one week. After they clear quarantine they will be removed from your account.

Is the Library still available as a Warming Centre?

Yes, we will be still offering space within the building for those in need of a warming centre during our open hours. To access this service, speak to the staff member offering curbside service.

Can I print a document?

Yes, we will still be offering printing through our Mobile Printing service. To find out more, visit our Curbside Printing Instructions page.

Why are items that I returned still showing up on my account?

The Library is quarantining items for 1 week before they are checked in and returned to the shelves. As such, the items will be visible on your account online, and your checkout slip. These items will not gather late fees. If you have concerns about your items, please feel free to contact your local branch.

Can I donate books to the Used Book Sale?

Our Giant Used Book Sale has been postponed until April 2021. The Library will temporarily not accept book donations during the curbside-only period.
