Can I come into the Library?

Yes, the Library is open for public access. You are free to use tables and workspaces without time limits, and browse items in the stacks. Effective March 1, the Library no longer requires you to show proof of vaccination prior to participating in a program. Before you enter the library or a library program, please self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms using the information posted at the facility entrance. If you are experiencing symptoms, please do not enter the facility.

Is proof of vaccination required to access the Library?

Visitors to the Library are not required to show proof of vaccination to access the library. Library visitors are still required to abide by current health regulations set out by the Ministry of Health, including not entering the library if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. Proof of vaccination is no longer required for library programs, 1:1 Tech Help or Makerspace appointments, or Study Room Bookings.

Are the computers and printing available?

Yes, our Public Internet Computers are available for use for one hour periods. Browse the Internet, check your email, and complete all your printing needs at either branch. Public Internet Computers are disinfected after each use. All print, scan and fax services are available. We are also offering Mobile Printing to print by email. Is the Library Locker Available?

Yes the Library Locker is now available during normal operating hours at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex. To request items for pickup at the lockers, simply select Library Lockers as your pickup location in our online catalogue, or in your request at the branch. Is Curbside Pickup Available?

Yes we are currently offering Curbside Pickup by request. Place items on hold as normal, and when you are at the library to pick them up, give us a call. A staff member will bring your items to you at our main entrance once they are able. Please bring your library card when you visit, and check out the Curbside Pickup page for more information.

How can I browse books?

You are free to explore the shelves and find the perfect book, movie or more in both of our branches. If you can’t visit us in person,  you can also browse books by:

1. Visiting the online catalogue 
2. Using the East Gwillimbury Public Library App, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
3. Checking out the Beyond the Desk Blog or our new catalog for reading lists from our trained staff
4. Requesting a Book Bundle of specially picked books.
5. Using our Curbside Pickup Form 
6. Calling or emailing the branch, details can be found on our Contact Page

Do I have to wear a mask?

As per the direction provided by York Region, visitors are no longer required to wear masks while using Town facilities. Masking is encouraged to protect yourselves and others, especially for those who may be immunocompromised or vulnerable to COVID-19 infections.

What else can I do to protect my safety and the safety of others when visiting the library?

We ask that all customers practice social distancing (keeping a minimum of 2 meters from others) while in the Library.  We also ask that you do not come to the Library if you are feeling ill or are showing any symptoms of Covid-19.
