Newcomer Information

 

Get a library membership card to enjoy these many services!

Library cards are free to patrons who live, work, or attend school in
East Gwillimbury or Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Uxbridge and
Whitchurch-Stouffville. Patrons outside of these areas are charged a non-resident fee.
You will need valid ID with your current address when applying for a library card.  
 

Books, Audio and Video

The library has a small literacy collection of books that are for people who are
learning to read English or wish to read abridged versions. Additionally, ESL
audio visual material and books can be found in the Children’s and Adult collections.
Search our Online Public Access Catalogue or ask at the Information Services desk.

Careers 

Want to learn about careers and employment in Canada?  Career Cruising is an excellent website available
free to library patrons. To find it, check under Online Databases for Career Information , and also in the Career/Jobs section of Useful Websites under the Research and Online Databases tab.

Community Info 

The York Info database is a partnership of four libraries in York Region, including East Gwillimbury Public Library. It offers free access to community
information and volunteer records.

Welcome Centre Immigrant Services provide one-stop services under one roof, designed to guide and support immigrants through the maze of information and
resources in York Region. They will meet with clients one-on-one at the Holland Landing branch by appointment.

Catholic Community Services of York Region have been providing immigrant settlement services in helping people from any
country, ethnicity or religion in York Region for over 25 years.
 
 Canadian Newcomer magazine connects the diverse ethnic communities in Canada by providing information, advice, entertainment and encouragement to new
immigrants.
